Are you grinding your teeth while you are sleeping? Or your loved one complaint of your grind teeth sound at night? Or having jaw pain, and headaches after you wake up from sleep? 



You are possibly suffering of Bruxism!


What is Bruxism?
Bruxism means grind of teeth, and often it happens as you sleep. Most people probably grind and clench their teeth from time to time. Occasional teeth grinding, does not usually cause harm, but when teeth grinding occurs on a regular basis the teeth can be damaged and other oral health complications can arise.


Why do people grind their teeth?

Teeth grinding can be caused by stress and anxiety, sleep disorders, an abnormal bite or teeth that are missing or crooked. 

How do i find out if i grind my teeth?

Most people are unaware that they grind their teeth, because grinding often occurs during sleep. But after you wake up from sleep, if you  a dull, constant headache or jaw soreness, teeth that are painful or loose fractured teeth, these are a telltale symptom of bruxism. Many times people learn that they grind their teeth by their loved one who hears the grinding at night.



Remember: If you suspect you may be grinding your teeth, pay a visit to your dentist. Your dentist can examine your mouth and jaw for signs of teeth grinding.

What can i do to Stop from Grinding teeth?

Your dentist will fit in a mouth guard to prevent you from grinding your teeth. In some cases, your dentist or physician may recommend taking a muscle relaxant before bedtime. If stress is the cause, you may need to find a way to relax. Meditation, counseling, exercise and even Yoga can all help reduce stress and anxiety. Train yourself not to clench or grind your teeth. If you notice that you clench or grind during the day, position the tip of your tongue between your teeth. This practice trains your jaw muscles to relax. Relax your jaw muscles at night by holding a warm washcloth against your cheek in front of your earlobe.



What if my child have grinding teeth?

Teeth grinding is also common in children. However, because their teeth and jaws change and grow so quickly it is not usually a damaging habit that requires treatment and most outgrow it by adolescence. Although in adults teeth grinding is often the result of stress, the same is not always true with children. Other possible causes of teeth grinding in children include: irritation in the mouth, allergies, misaligned teeth If you’re concerned about your child’s teeth grinding, ask your child’s dentist about the potential causes and, if necessary, the possible solutions.

如果压力是主因,你可能需要找到一个方法来放松身心。打坐,心灵辅导,多做运动,甚至瑜伽都可以帮助您减轻压力和焦虑, 从而减少磨牙的发生。然后您可以训练自己尽量不要咬紧或磨牙齿。如果你发现,你在白天时有咬紧牙关或磨牙,可以将舌尖定位在你的牙齿之间。这种做法可以训练你把下巴的肌肉放松。您也可以在睡觉前,用温热的毛巾放在你的脸颊及耳垂前,并按摩来放松你的下巴肌肉,减少肌肉紧绷,从而减少磨牙的发生。


我的孩子有磨牙症状怎么办?

儿童也有可能有磨牙症。但是,因为他们的牙齿和颚骨会随着年龄改变,所以在迅速成长或发育的情况下,它通常不是一个破坏性的习惯,不像在青春或长大了的孩子般需要治疗。虽然成人磨牙症往往是因为压力的结果,但这通常不会在儿童上发生。儿童磨牙其他可能的原因包括:长牙时牙龈痛痒,口腔过敏,或牙齿不齐。如果你担心你的孩子的摩牙习惯,不妨询问你的牙医有关的潜在原因,如有必要,尽早找到解决方案。
